Ediscere is developed by IP Strategy UG (trading as Siyaya Digital), Niederrheinstraße 46f, 41472 Neuss, Germany — represented by Ilya Piontek, Neuss District Court, HRB 23546. This policy explains, in plain language, how Ediscere handles and protects your data. It applies to the app on iPhone and iPad.
Ediscere is built to work entirely without an internet connection. All learning content, fonts and the language engine are bundled locally in the app. The app does not download content from the internet and does not, on its own, transmit any data to us or to third parties. There is no tracking, no usage analytics and no advertising.
All of the following is stored only locally on your device and never leaves it:
You can reset this data at any time within the app (per chapter or completely) or remove it entirely by uninstalling the app.
You can protect a profile with a PIN. The learning progress is then stored locally in encrypted form (Web Crypto / AES). The PIN is neither transmitted nor stored anywhere and cannot be recovered if lost — that is the point.
By default we operate no servers and store no user data outside your device. Optionally, you can sign in to synchronise your learning progress across devices (a premium feature). This is voluntary; without signing in the app stays fully offline.
If you use the photo look-up feature, the app requests access to the camera or photo library. Text recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your device. No images are uploaded or sent to third parties. The permission is optional; without it the rest of the app works normally.
The read-aloud feature uses your device's built-in speech synthesis. No audio is recorded, stored or transmitted.
Ediscere does not use any analytics services, tracking pixels, advertising SDKs or fingerprinting technologies. We do not track how you use the app.
Optional unlocks (e.g. additional languages and chapters) are handled via Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment is processed through your Apple account; the transaction and any payment data reside with Apple. We do not receive payment or account data. Apple's privacy policy applies additionally.
Voucher codes: alternatively, you can unlock Premium with a voucher code (e.g. as part of a B2B offer). This requires you to be signed in. On redemption we store, minimally, your user ID and a reference to the code in the EU (Frankfurt) — to verify the unlock server-side and prevent double redemption. This data is deleted together with your account.
In the "Books & accessories" section the app shows labelled purchase recommendations. Tapping one opens your device's external browser with a link to Amazon. These links contain an affiliate identifier from which we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. Once you open the page, Amazon's own privacy policy applies. Within Ediscere itself no personal data is processed for this.
The app is suitable for all ages and, by default, collects no personal data — including none from children.
As long as you use the app without an account, we neither collect nor store personal data — the data on your device is controlled solely by you. If you use the optional cloud sync, we process the data described above. In either case, under the GDPR you have the rights to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
We update this policy when the app or the legal situation changes. The version published here with the date shown above applies.
